Burt Glinn : L’art d’être au bon endroit au bon moment

Faire la bio complète de Burt Glinn, légende de la photographie serait impossible tant sa carrière fut longue. Pendant presque 6 décennies, ce photographe s’est trouvé au bon endroit, au bon moment et a réussi à capturer quelques unes des images les plus emblématiques du XXème siècle.

L’un des premiers membres de l’agence Magnum, est connu au départ pour ses séries en couleur au début de la décennie 50_60, en tant que jeune soldat.  Il a documenté la révolution cubaine avec les photos les plus immersives jamais prises de Fidel Castro, , il a photographié des moments historiques, l’invasion américaine au Liban, la guerre du Sinaï, mais aussi les futures stars de la pop comme Andy Warhol et Edie Sedqwick alors inconnus à l’époque et des instants de grâce comme Allen Ginsburg récitant des poèmes à Washington Square à NY.

Créateur de l’American Society of Media Photographers, né en 1925, mort en 2008, cet immense photographe s’est éteint très vieux, n’ayant jamais admis qu’il était spécialement talentueux mais juste chanceux.
